Damn I’m scared of her in this video. She says everything in such a way that I get goosebumps. No one EVER in life, told me I was black and what that meant in real terms. No one told me that reading was freedom. No one ever told me that I was beautiful inside and out. But everyone told where I could find a Mcdonald’s and buy a 2 for 1 special. America you be teachin’ ignorance.

Watching this has literally brought me to tears. I’ve been feeling so exasperated lately. As I further my studies, and the abysmal position Black people have been forced into, and held down in America becomes more and more apparent to me, I find it difficult to remain hopeful. Sista Souljah’s words still ring so true today.
Chills and it still rings true TO THIS DAY. Ain’t shit changed but the price of the rent.
